Flexibility Stretch Massage

Most people know to stretch before workouts but what about after sitting in a chair at work all day? Or riding in a car for long hours each day? Let’s face it… as a whole, people are more sedentary now more than ever and knowing what to do and actually taking the time to do it are two different things.  As a result, stretching is more important than ever and is one of the best ways to undo the damage caused by inactivity.

Stretching has benefits similar to a massage. It gets the blood flowing to inactive muscles that have contracted because of stress or immobility. Without a good stretch, these muscles can shorten (partially contract) and eventually lead to knots within the muscle, affecting the function of the muscle and causing pain with movement.

The first half of our Flexibility Massage includes a series of therapist assisted stretches targeting specific muscle groups and major joints of the body to maximize movement and restore muscle flexibility.  The second half of the Flexibility Massage includes a combination of trigger point and massage therapy on those muscle groups activated during the stretching sequence.

Trigger Point Massage

Trigger Point Massage is geared toward the trigger points of the body, which are highly sensitive areas in the muscle that cause localized pain and/or refer pain to other areas of the body.

The therapist applies concentrated finger pressure to these points to break the cycles of spasm and pain. Trigger point therapy is very effective with pain relief caused by fibromylagia and migraines. If desired, finish up with an application of BIOFREEZE pain relieving gel to the affected areas.
